Australian Computer Society (ACS) is governed by a national Management Committee which is characterized by collaborative knowledge of its members and expert advisory boards. An experienced board of members at ACS analyzes the applications of migration from all over the world. In the ACS assessment process, educational qualifications and work experience of the applicant are judged according to the nominated profession (ANZSCO). You will get necessary guidelines For ACS Assessment process at CDR Preparations.
The assessing body for an application is chosen on the basis of ANZSCO occupation nominated by the applicant. List of Eligible Skilled Occupations includes a number of ANZSCOs which correspond to respective assessing authorities including Architects Accreditation Council of Australia (AACA), Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM), Australian Osteopathic Accreditation Council (AOAC), Australasian Veterinary Boards Council (AVBC), Australian Dental Council (ADC), Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) etc. ANZSCO code information can be found on the Australian Bureau of Statistics website.
First step of the assessment process is to assess the qualifications of an applicant using Australian educational standards which generates an AQF comparability factor. The next step is the assessment of course units to judge the professional ICT skills of the applicant. The result of this second assessment marks the applicant as a Major, Minor or Insufficient in ICT content. Third step involves the assessment of ICT contents with reference to ANZSCO occupation selected by the candidate. After the assessment of qualifications, work experience is considered which determines the suitability of candidate for Australian immigration.
No pre-assessment advice is offered by ACS regarding suitability of candidate because of complex and extensive nature of ICT skills assessment process. ACS has made it clear that it does not provide any career advice before or after the assessment process. The choice of subjects is completely dependent upon personal preferences of the applicant. Also, it should be remembered that ACS does not provide accreditation services rather it aims at filtering suitable individuals for immigration purposes. ACS ICT accredited courses are available which make sure the qualification of candidates meets the suitability criteria, however, it does not guarantee positive outcome of migration application since qualification is only a single aspect of skills assessment process.
Suitability Criteria
Suitability criteria refer to the requirements needed for satisfactory evaluation of the migration application.
